All my personal computers run Linux.
I prefer the distribution from Ubuntu although I have tried several other ones including Linux Mint which is also excellent for the desktop. The system that I am using right now is a "generic" box that I assembled from parts acquired from Tiger Direct at a very reasonable cost. If you have ever considered trying Linux especially in the ham shack I encourage you to do so. I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to install and the flexibility that it will give you in your computer needs. Oh, and did I mention that it is FREE. You just can't beat the price.
